gI_0_0_HRInterior05.jpgDescendants and family members of those on board the Titanic will gather on April 8 to honor and mark the grand opening of a new museum, dedicated to the famous ocean liner.

The event, hosted by Regis Philbin, will take place in Pigeon Forge, Tenn., and is free and open to the public.

Titanic Museum Attraction is a half-scale, permanent, three-deck reproduction of Titanic. It houses 20 galleries, which will display hundreds of authentic Titanic artifacts—carried from the ship into lifeboats by survivors, and those found afloat soon after the ship’s sinking.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to view Third-Class quarters, a First-Class suite, dining rooms and a $1 million exact reproduction of Titanic’s Grand Staircase.

Additionally, the museum will have an interactive attraction, which creates the illusion of Titanic at sea. A 90-minute guided tour gives guests the sensation of sailing on the original 1912 maiden voyage.

“We pay respect to Titanic by telling the story of the ship and her passengers,” said John Joslyn, owner of the new Titanic Museum Attraction. “Visitors learn the individual stories of those onboard the ship as they are learning about the ship itself.
We have spent years researching these people and their stories are absolutely amazing.”
