In 1957 a fire broke out at the Browns Lane Jaguar factory in the U.K. and destroyed several D-type race cars and their road variants—XKSS models.

Fortunately, twelve out of sixteen XKSS sports cars survived and were eventually sold, mostly in the U.S.—the actor Steve McQueen owned one for personal use.

To celebrate its 75th anniversary, the British luxury carmaker, for the first time ever, will bring the surviving roadsters to Monterey, Calif. this weekend.

Jaguar’s kick-off party begins on Thursday, and continues through Sunday with a series of events planned around this unique reunion.

Steve McQueen’s XKSS will be shown, along with other key historic Jaguars, including the 1988 Le Mans-winning XJR9, the legendary 1966 XJ13, and the 1935 SS90 that served as the prototype for the first car named Jaguar—just to name a few.
