Amazon.com announced that it would offer users the ability to store music and other digital content in the cloud. The new service will allow users to play music tracks from the Web and Android-based devices.

Amazon Cloud Drive gives users 5 GB of space at no cost. Paid plans are available, starting at $20 for 20GB. Additional capacity is available for $1 per 1GB per year, with a maximum of $1000 for 1 terabyte.

Customers who purchase an album from the Amazon MP3 Store before December 31 will receive a free 20GB plan upgrade.
