Every now and then, we as consumers become enamored with tech products that promise to make our lives easier—products that allow us to do things faster and better, or perhaps do something cool that we could show off to our friends and family. We can spend hours online reading user product reviews and specifications, and browsing through photo galleries, wondering what life could be like owning that magical, must-have gadget.
For me, this was one of those times. When Clore Automotive said it was sending MyLIFE magazine the Charge It! 4500 series battery charger, I immediately went to company’s website to check it out. I read about how everything in my garage could be kept charged, regardless of what type of battery it was. The Charge It! is fully automatic, with multiple charge rates. All you do is hook up the clamps and push some buttons, and your device begins charging. It sounded great. And then I watched a demonstration video clip on the Clore Automotive website. That’s when I got really excited.
Somehow, I got it in my head that the Charge It! could charge your battery without electricity. I watched the video clip, and it appeared as if the woman who is shown on the clip walks out to her car, plugs the Charge It! device to her car battery, and begins charging the battery. I assumed there was a battery pack in the Charge It! unit, which I thought could charge a battery ahead of time, so you could leave in your trunk and use it in case of emergencies.
But boy, was I wrong! When I received the Charge It! unit, I quickly discovered that you need electricity to use it. Once I got over that initial let down, I really enjoyed the ease of using the Charge It! battery charger. It does exactly what Clore says it’s supposed to do. You don’t have to worry about overcharging your battery, messing up the polarity or frying it. The Charge It! uses smart clamp technology, which provides reverse polarity protection and prevents arcing. It works extremely well on all types of batteries, including cars, trucks, boats, motorcycles and RVs, just to name a few. It’s a solidly built product with some great features that will help save time and money in the long run.
